We spent a weekend in July at Spino Fiorito, a small place in the hills of Lunigiana, the corner of Tuscany that runs into Liguria. We slept in a mirror house tucked into the trees, rode gravel with Lorenzo from La Spezzina Bike Rental, and had a lunch that took up most of the afternoon.
It is outside the part of Italy we usually ride, which is exactly why it is here. Every so often we spend a weekend somewhere we think should be better known, and come back with the route, the room, the food and the person to call.

What is the mirror house?
A small house in the trees whose outside walls are mirrors. From a distance it almost disappears into the woods, reflecting the trees and the sky. From inside, you look out through glass at the hills of Lunigiana.
The rest of Spino Fiorito is in the same spirit: a swimming pool looking out to the mountains, a sauna, and very little noise.

The ride
Lorenzo, from La Spezzina Bike Rental, took us out on the gravel roads in the hills around Spino Fiorito. If you go, he hires bikes and guides locally, and he knows the roads far better than any map does.

How to plan your own weekend
We put together everything you need: the route we rode on Komoot, with the GPX file; a discount code for a night in the mirror house, which Spino Fiorito set up for us to share; and Lorenzo's direct contact for bike hire or a local guide.
Email us at info@epicitaly.cc and we will send it across. If you go, tell Lorenzo we sent you.
