Every two years the medieval town of Marostica hosts one of the most extraordinary historical spectacles in Italy.

In the main square, on a giant marble chessboard, hundreds of actors in Renaissance costume recreate a famous chess match that, according to legend, was once played to win the hand of a noblewoman. Horses, flag throwers, musicians and dancers transform the town into a living theatre.

Epic Italy guests experience the event as a curated evening from Bassano del Grappa, combining a relaxed ride or transfer to Marostica with time to explore the town before the show begins.

As the sun sets, Piazza Castello fills with lights, music and anticipation before the historic match unfolds in front of thousands of spectators.

This is not simply a performance.
It is one of the most unique traditions in the Veneto region.
